ACR Receives Grant
ACR has received a $2700 grant from the James B. Boskey Memorial Foundation. The grant will support ACR’s initiative to create capacity within ACR Chapters and other organizations to organize and carry out youth conferences at the local level. The grant builds on funding from the JAMS Foundation to support youth conferences in conjunction with the 2008 and 2009 ACR annual conferences and document lessons learned. A portion of the Boskey funds will be reserved to provide seed money for Chapters in planning local youth conferences in 2010 and beyond. The grant also will cover any local funding shortfalls in conjunction with the 2008/2009 youth conferences and partially support an intern at ACR to prepare a handbook for organizing youth conferences, raising local funds and collaborating with other organizations. “The Boskey Foundation has been a steady supporter of ACR, and we are delighted to have their continued interest in youth activities,” said ACR Executive Director Doug Kleine.
Invitation to Participate: ACR Listening Session
This is an exciting time for the field of conflict resolution and especially for ACR. The ACR Board of Directors is committed to creating a New ACR – one that truly engages members, like you, in shaping our direction.
The Board wants to increase opportunities for members to have a voice in ACR. We want to hear your thoughts as we work together to take ACR to new levels. To that end, we are continuing a Listening Initiative to provide you with opportunities to speak directly to ACR Board members and staff via teleconference calls. We anticipate that these listening sessions will lead to a rich dialogue regarding the future of ACR.
Our next Listening Session will be held on Wednesday, January 14 at 12 p.m. EST. You can participate by calling 712-432-7302 and using the pass code 73984#. Take a moment before the call to look at our new mission, vision statement, and strategic objectives on the ACR website.
In addition to this new Listening Initiative, you also can contact individual board members or staff whenever you have questions or comments you wish to address. Full contact information is available at www.ACRnet.org.
