invites you to attend the national conference,
What Works!
Innovations in Conflict Resolution Education:
Early Childhood to Higher Education in
Columbus, Ohio May 5th - 8th, 2004, sponsored
by the Ohio
Commission on Dispute Resolution and Conflict
Management, the Interfaith
Center for Peace, the Association
for Conflict Resolution, and the
Ohio Resource Network.
The conference will focus on conflict resolution
innovations specifically for higher education,
pre-K-12 schools, and high school students. This
exciting event will bring together college and
university faculty, educators, practitioners,
high school students and community members from
across Ohio and the U.S. to explore positive models
for reducing and managing conflict with a goal
to create safe and healthy learning environments.
The ACR Education Section
will host it's mid-year meeting at the conference,
Thursday, May 6, from 4:00 p.m, continuing through
dinner, and on into the evening until 8:30 p.m.

General participants are invited to attend two-day
pre-conference intensive training sessions, May
5th and 6th, followed by two days of keynote lectures
from nationally recognized experts, intensive
workshops on programs, and strategies and theories
for building peaceful school and university communities,
May 7th and 8th.
Keynote speakers include: Maurice
J. Elias, Ph.D., Professor, Department of Psychology,
Rutgers University, Co-Developer of the Social
Decision Making-Social Problem Solving Program
who will speak on Conflict Resolution Education
and Social and Emotional Learning: Preparing Children
for the Tests of Life; Tricia S. Jones, Ph.D.,
Professor, Department of Psychological Studies,
Temple University who will speak on Kids Working
It Out; and Janet Patti, Ed.D., Coordinator
of the Education Administration and Supervision
Program, Hunter College of the City University
of New York, who will speak on Smart School
Leaders: Using Emotional Intelligence to Lead
Schools.
RCHs, CEUs for teachers, counselors and social
workers and graduate credit, will be offered.
