ADR WEEK PROCLAMATIONS

Thank you Maricopa Municipalities. We wish to acknowledge and thank each of you again for obtaining Proclamations in support of ADR week. As of today, we have received Proclamations from Governor Napolitano, the Maricopa County Board of Supervisors, the Coconino County Superior Court, and 17 of Maricopa County’s 23 cities and towns.

Our thanks to the administrators and Mayors from Avondale, Buckeye, Carefree, Chandler, Fountain Hills, Gila Bend, Gilbert, Glendale, Goodyear, Guadalupe, Litchfield Park, Paradise Valley, Phoenix, Scottsdale, Tempe, Tolleson, and Wickenburg.

We applaud your support of ADR programs for the people within your jurisdiction.

WEDNESDAY THROUGH FRIDAY MAY 12 – 14
ADR MARATHON

Jointly sponsored by MADRA and the Superior Court ADR Program.

The Superior Court will provide cases to ADR professionals to attempt to resolve through mediation in a settlement conference setting. The Mediation/Settlement Conferences will be scheduled for 9:00 and 1:30 each day. Because the Family Court Divisions have such a backlog of cases to resolve, the great majority of cases set will be Family Court cases. However, the ADR Program will attempt to set some Civil and Probate cases for those who volunteer for this type of case.

For the purpose of this Marathon you do not have to be a Judge Pro Tempore. If you are not an Arizona attorney/mediator, you will be required to co-mediate with an Arizona attorney/mediator. You will, however, be required to allow attorneys to participate in the Mediation/Settlement Conference and any agreement that is reached will be required to be memorialized on tape or in writing signed by the parties with confirmation from the parties that it is intended to be a binding Rule 80(d) agreement.

In addition, in order to conserve limited space at the Court, we would ask that the Mediation/Settlement Conference be done at your office or at one of the attorney’s offices if at all possible.

Those who are interested should email ruthlaw@aol.com.

WEDNESDAY, MAY 12 4:00 PM
THE MADRA MAY MEMBERSHIP MEETING

Encanto Park Clubhouse

An introduction to the Complete Communication process. Complete Communication invites you into a consciousness of acceptance, fully authentic expressing and deeply empathic listening. It establishes trust and generates a strong human connection. In mediation, it gives the participants the experience of being heard and understood, and removes barriers to agreement. The Complete Communication process is based upon the extraordinary book “Nonviolent Communication, A Language of Life,” by Marshall Rosenberg, Ph.D.

  • Recognize common language that causes disconnection and conflict.

  • Increase understanding and acceptance of yourself and others.

  • Speak powerfully and resolve conflicts without creating hostility. Listen and respond more compassionately and effectively.

  • Generate interactions that fulfill everyone’s needs and values.

  • Deepen intimacy in your closest relationships.

  • Increase fulfillment, harmony and productivity at work.
