Advanced Labor Arbitrator Development Program
Sponsored by ACR, FMCS and the NAA
September 28 and 29, 2004
(Preceding the ACR Annual Conference)

This two-day learning opportunity is designed for practicing labor arbitrators with five or more written decisions. The program as been formulated based on what these arbitrators need to know about:

  • growing an emerging professional practice

  • answers to the question: “how to get on panels?”

  • decision-making

  • advanced award-writing

  • ensuring the integrity of awards

  • best operations and financial practices

  • advanced hearing procedures

  • ethics for labor arbitrators.

This will be a collegial and interactive environment for learning. A unique aspect of this program will be a review of one of your arbitration awards by faculty from the National Academy of Arbitrators. The nationally recognized faculty includes Homer LaRue, David Weinberg, and Fred Dichter. Additional faculty will provide informal mentoring during the program.

This program is the second annual collaboration between the Association for Conflict Resolution, the Federal Mediation and Conciliation Service and the National Academy of Arbitrators. Registration is limited to the first 30 registrants who meet the basic requirements.

The two-day cost is $325 for registrations received before September 1st, and $375 for later registrations. In case of a registrant’s cancellation, see the refund policy stated on the application form. Lunches are included.
