PUBLIC EVENT:
More than 1000 members of the Association for
Conflict Resolution will gather for ACR’s annual
meeting from October 25 – 28, 2006 at the Sheraton
City Center Hotel at 17th and Race Street
in downtown Philadelphia. The conference is open to
the public.
ACR is a professional
association representing more than 6000 mediators,
arbitrators, educators and other conflict resolution
professionals from across the U.S. and around the
world. The conference begins with an “International
Day” and several pre-conference institutes on Oct 25
and continues with more than 100 workshops and
plenary events. A number of workshops will be

KEYNOTE ADDRESS:
Saturday, October 28 – 12:30 pm –
Morris Dees, Jr. is the co-founder of the
Southern Poverty Law Center (SPLC) in Montgomery,
Alabama. SPLC teaches tolerance education programs,
provides legal services to combat racism, and
monitors hate groups and extremist activity. Dees
was a prominent leader in the civil rights movement
of the 1960s and worked to desegregate the
Montgomery, Alabama YMCA. Today, Morris Dees serves
as the Chief Trial Counsel for the SPLC and devotes
his time to suing white supremacist groups and
working on the Teaching Tolerance program which
promotes understanding and appreciation for
diversity to youth.
