Small Business Owners Near Ground Zero Face Eviction for Nonpayment of Rent
Court-sponsored Program Will Provide Pro Bono Mediators to Help Resolve Cases

 

 

EVENT:

Mediators from the greater New York City area will meet on June 14 to discuss a new program which began in Manhattan Civil Court on June 4th. The 9/11 Small Business Court Assistance Project has been set up to provide volunteer mediators to facilitate settlement of landlord/tenant disputes resulting from the events of September 11th. The panel discussion is being offered by the New York chapter of the Association for Conflict Resolution (ACR), an international professional association representing more than 6000 mediators, arbitrators, and other conflict resolution professionals. It is part of a full-day conference on the theme "ADR in Changing Times: Responding to World Events" sponsored by the Association for Conflict Resolution of Greater New York and co-sponsored by the NYS Unified Court System Office of ADR Programs and Fordham Law School.

AWARD PRESENTATION: The Alternative Dispute Resolution Achievement Award will be presented to the retiring dean of Fordham University School of Law, Dean John D. Feerick. The award will be presented by David A. Hart, CEO of the Association for Conflict Resolution.
