ACR and the Joint Committee on Model Standards of Conduct

If the public is to continue to have confidence in mediation, it is important that practitioners and disputants have a clear understanding of what constitutes appropriate and inappropriate mediator conduct. For that reason, ACR, the AAA and the ABA Section of Dispute Resolution have convened the Joint Committee on Model Standards of Conduct for Mediators (JCMSCM) to review, revise and update the original Model Standards of Conduct that were established by the AAA, ABA Section of Dispute Resolution and SPIDR in 1994. ACR’s representatives to the Joint Committee are Sharon Press (former SPIDR president and former ACR Board Director) and Terry Wheeler (former CREnet president and current ACR President-Elect)

On August 22, ACR's Board of Directors unanimously adopted the 2005 revisions to the Model Standards of Conduct for Mediators. To read the press release, click here.
