  • Court Section 
     Offers best practices, networking, identification of resources, development of model practices, and training program information to all individuals involved in Court ADR programs. Also provides extensive resources for developing high quality court-annexed ADR programs throughout the country. 


  • Crisis Intervention Section
     Provides cutting-edge information in the crisis negotiation field as well as a network of professionals, and helps members develop advanced skills in de-escalating high conflict interactions. Features an extensive list of resources, including an FBI hostage and crisis negotiation bibliography.  


  • Education Section
     Provides resources and support for practitioners, educators, students, youth, trainers, community activists and administrators in the alternative dispute resolution field and pre-K–12 to higher education settings. 


  • Elder Decision Making and Conflict Res
     Provides information and support to advance the development, provision, and use of high quality, facilitated conflict resolution and decision-making services by older persons, their families, public and private service providers and others regarding the transitions that may come with aging. 


  • Environment and Public Policy
    Promotes the development of environmental public dispute resolution through a strong network of practitioners, providers, users and researchers. Hosts mid-year conferences attended by new and experienced conflict resolution professionals. Provides guidance in involving volunteers and generating financial resources.


  •  Family Section 
    Provides resources, mentoring and networking for members in a wide range of family mediation areas. Hosts conferences where attendees meet other practitioners and participate in exciting and valuable workshops.  Publishes a quarterly newsletter for family mediation interests. Offers Advanced Practitioner and Approved Training Program designations to members who meet the established criteria.


  • Health Care Section 
     Identifies best practices, provides a forum for networking, assists members in educating the public and the health care industry, and offers a Health Care Section Help Line. 



  •  International Section  
    Works to make nonviolent dispute resolution processes more readily available throughout the world. Works with parties in international conflicts to design and implement processes which best meet their needs, consistent with the goal of resolving conflicts with maximum equity for all. 



  • Ombuds Section 
    Offers education, networking and information for professionals in the Ombuds and Ombudsman community or those interested in accountability and applied conflict resolution systems in corporations, government, academia or non-profits. Ombuds and Ombudsman programs serve as the cornerstone of well-designed conflict management systems and provide increased accountability that is being demanded among private and public organizations.  


  • Online Dispute Resolution Section 
    Serves the growing population of users who wish to resolve disputes through the use of online technology. Explores the possibilities and researches pitfalls, while making available the best and most advanced knowledge in the field. Provides ongoing mentoring and networking.


  •  Organizational Conflict Management Sec 
    Helps members excel at developing integrated organizational conflict management systems by identifying practice models and best practices, providing education opportunities, and connecting members with other ACR Sections, conflict resolution disciplines and organizations. 



  • Research Section 
    Provides a vital forum for cross-fertilization of ideas where researchers and practitioners from all fields of conflict resolution can share research, practical applications, and new ideas. Focus committees include Learning Networks, Intellectual Leadership, and Next Generation Research.


  • Restorative and Criminal Justice
    Shares information about innovative programs in community, criminal and restorative justice. Serves as a resource for training in the areas of family conferencing, peace circles, and victim-offender mediation. Offers networking resources for expertise needed in individual situations.


  • Spirituality Section 
     Shares information about innovative programs in community, criminal and restorative justice. Serves as a resource for training in the areas of family conferencing, peace circles, and victim-offender mediation. Offers networking resources for expertise needed in individual situations. 



  • Training Section
    Facilitates the design and presentation of cutting-edge programs that enhance the development of trainers and training systems.


  • Workplace Section 
    Represents workplace neutrals in both the labor and employment settings, including mediators, arbitrators, ADR program managers, coaches, ombuds, system design consultants, academics, researchers and group facilitators. Provides members with teleconferences, a newsletter, Workplace Alerts emails on cutting-edge legal and policy developments, Workplace Training and Opportunity Notices, public policy analysis on workplace issues, and extensive professional development and networking opportunities. Offers a “one-stop shop” for Workplace ADR training opportunities, and two Advanced Practitioner designations for mediators and arbitrators.
