Model Standards of Conduct for Mediators

Individual Members

Individuals committed to the mission and ethical standards of the organization are welcome to be members of ACR.

Dues: $195.00 per year


Practitioner

Individuals who have completed 40 hours of conflict resolution training or continuing education courses and have three years of relevant experience may apply for this membership category.
Note: Members who have not done 40 hours of formal course work but can demonstrate other forms of education such as conference workshops, mentoring, etc. can apply for equivalency status. Members with more than 200 hours of practice, but less than three years of experience, can also apply for this category of membership.

Educator

Individuals who have completed 40 hours of conflict resolution training or continuing education and has, over a minimum of a three-year period, either:

A) coordinated a campus mediation program (K-12 or higher education setting) and conducted/supervised at least 40 mediation sessions; or

B) taught conflict resolution education in a K-12 school setting for a minimum of 200 contact hours; or

C) taught four or more semester-long or six or more quarter-long conflict resolution courses in a college or university setting.
Note: Members who have not done 40 hours of formal course work but can demonstrate other forms of education such as conference workshops, mentoring, etc. can apply for equivalency status.

Researcher

Individuals who have completed 40 hours of conflict resolution training or continuing education courses, has a minimum of three years of research experience, has published a book or research-based conflict resolution article in a peer-reviewed journal, and holds an advanced degree in a field related to conflict resolution.

Note: Members who have not done 40 hours of formal course work but can demonstrate other forms of education such as conference workshops, mentoring, etc. can apply for equivalency status.

Dues: $205.00 per year

Advanced Practitioner

This membership category recognizes advanced levels of training and experience. Criteria for membership in this category are set by committees from each of ACR’s professional interest Sections, and are specific to the skills and knowledge required for that particular area of practice. Note: Additional form required.

Retiree

Individuals age 65 and over who are retired from the conflict resolution practice and have been members of ACR for at least two years are eligible for this membership category. Retirees receive all benefits of standard membership, except the Conflict Resolution Quarterly journal and eligibility for reduced rates on ACR’s Professional Liability Insurance for Mediators and Arbitrators.

Dues: $50.00 per year

Student

Full-time students enrolled in a degree or certificate program at an accredited university who are not employed or who are employed on a part-time basis may apply for this discounted membership category.
Students receive all benefits of standard membership except eligibility for reduced rates on ACR’s Professional Liability Insurance for Mediators and Arbitrators. (Verification is required prior to application approval.)

Dues: $80.00 per year

Youth

Students in grades K–12 may apply for this membership category, which offers most benefits of standard membership, except for voting privileges, the CRQ journal, and eligibility for reduced rates on ACR’s Professional Liability Insurance for Mediators and Arbitrators.

Dues: $35.00 per year

Associate

Individuals who wish to be affiliated with ACR may apply for this membership category, which offers most benefits of standard membership, except for voting privileges, the CRQ journal, and eligibility for reduced rates on ACR’s Professional Liability Insurance for Mediators and Arbitrators.

Dues: $110.00 per year
