ACR 2010 Annual Conference
ACR will host our 10th Annual Conference September 1 - 4, 2010 at the Hyatt Regency in Chicago, IL. This year's theme, Many Paths: One Destination, celebrating the oneness, the unity and the common goal we share in reaching the One Destination: Peaceful Conflict Resolution. Our theme recognizes the connections within and across our practice areas, Sections and Chapters, and the valuable partnerships created within professions such as family services, legal, health care, education, business and many others.
Over the past 10 years, we as a community have seen an evolving and growing need for high quality conflict resolution, from the international to the interpersonal level. We invite you to join us at this year's Annual Conference as we provide an opportunity to step back and reflect on changes witnessed, challenges met and prospects for the future. Our 2010 Conference is an excellent time to celebrate the essence of ACR, an organization that embraces and acknowledges the full spectrum of peaceful conflict resolution and recognizes the value of cross-disciplinary and cross-cultural connections to enhance conflict resolution choices universally. ACR embodies "Many Paths: One Destination, this year's theme.
We are pleased to announce our opening keynote speaker, Governor Joe Manchin, III of West Virginia and current Vice Chair of the National Governor’s Association. Governor Manchin will share with us a first hand account of his experience responding to conflict in the midst of tragedy. Tragedies such as what happened in the recent West Virginia coal mine explosion are full o conflict but also present opportunities for change, healing and growth.
